Consortium Partners
The UM-HEART-VR consortium brings together European and Malaysian higher education healthcare institutions to deliver VR-based empathy and communication training for healthcare professionals. The partnership, led by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), includes Karolinska Institutet (Sweden) and the European Union of Medical Specialists (Belgium) as EU partners, collaborating with Malaysian institutions: Universiti Malaya (UM), Monash University Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MUM), and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). This collaboration leverages EU expertise in VR platforms, accreditation, and digital scenario authoring to enhance the capacity of the three Malaysian healthcare schools in soft skills training, aligning their efforts with global patient-centered care standards. The Malaysian institutions contribute local academic expertise and alignment with national healthcare priorities, while European partners provide technical knowledge, VR platform experience, and quality frameworks aligned with international standards. Through structured collaboration, knowledge transfer, and shared governance, the consortium ensures sustainable implementation, measurable impact, and long-term academic partnership beyond the project’s duration.
